Swindon Town issue update after fan disorder at Walsall
Swindon Town have issued an update on their investigation into an incident of fan disorder during their opening day match at Walsall. Towards the end of their 2-1 defeat at the Pallet Track Bescot Stadium, a chair was allegedly thrown at Saddler's goalkeeper Myles Roberts, abuse was directed at stewards, staff, players and match officials, and there was use of pyrotechnics. Swindon Town issued a statement condemning the incident and said that they would conduct a 'full and thorough investigation', working closely with Walsall and West Midlands Police to identify those responsible. On August 13, Swindon Town issued a further statement to update supporters on the progress of their investigation. The statement said: 'As of yesterday, Wiltshire Police are awaiting details from West Midlands Police. We are also expecting to receive a number of images from the match, which will assist us in the process of identifying the individuals involved — who, it appears, are currently unknown to the police. 'Our stance remains clear: anyone found to have engaged in such behaviour will face the strictest possible sanctions, including banning orders and, where appropriate, legal action. 'We continue to work closely with Walsall Football Club, both police forces, and other relevant authorities to ensure those responsible are held to account. 'Once again, we thank the overwhelming majority of Swindon Town supporters who continue to follow the team with passion, respect, and in the right way. We urge everyone to play their part in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment at all fixtures, home and away.' Ian Holloway was equally outraged by the incident when he spoke to the press after the match. He said: 'I am here to represent my wonderful football club in a way that is courteous in defeat, tenacious as well, I want to fight for things, but you don't rip out a seat and throw it at someone. 'I wouldn't want Walsall thinking that about all of us, so anyone who stood next to them, I want them dobbed in because that's not right. 'These people creep into football, and no one does anything about it. I am standing up for Swindon Town, a magnificent club, and we don't want anything to do with this. 'Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am going to hunt you down and find you.'

Cup win 'very important' in Cardiff's journey
Brian Barry-Murphy says Cardiff City's win over Swindon Town in the EFL Cup was "very important" as his side continue to impress in the early stages of the manager's from Welsh duo Cian Ashford and Rubin Colwill earned the Bluebirds a 2-1 victory over Ian Holloway's side in the Welsh capital as Cardiff progressed into the second round of the competition."I'm really pleased. It means a lot to me to get through to the next round and see who we could possibly take on," Barry-Murphy said."To win tonight was very important and we treated the game very seriously. I thought that reflected in our performance, so I was happy."Barry-Murphy kept faith with six players from the side that started the drab 0-0 draw with Port Vale five days the Irishman says his unbeaten side can continue to improve as his players have more time to adapt to his methods."We're in the very early stages of working together. We've only trained for 25 days so that's a very small period of time in terms of trying to build something together," added Barry-Murphy."The players who came in came in based on how well they've trained and how they've been to starting the other games."We felt it was as competitive as the team at Port Vale, and luckily for us the performance, luckily for us, was better than Port Vale."I'm aware of so much more that we need to do as we move forward, but if we have that patience and understanding of where the players are at, I think we'll be fine."

Leicester defender joins Swindon on season-long loan deal
Swindon Town have completed the loan signing of Leicester City centre-back Thomas Wilson-Brown to join the club for all of next season. With one week remaining in the summer, Swindon have dipped into the loan market for the second time to bring in the left-footed defender. Wilson-Brown is a six-foot-three centre-back who has come through the ranks at Leicester and been a regular for their youth sides in recent seasons. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, but did not make an appearance at Rugby Park during four months there. Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider reported that Kilmarnock were interested in bringing him back there and League Two betting second favourites Chesterfield were also interested, but Ian Holloway was able to persuade him to join Swindon. Speaking to club media after completing the move, Wilson-Brown said: "I'm thrilled to join Swindon Town. With ambitions of pushing for promotion, this is a fantastic opportunity. I want to get stuck in, contribute to the team, and help drive us forward. "I spoke to lots of people about Swindon who told me it was a fantastic club with a huge ground, and I'm really excited to be a part of this next chapter. I've spoken to the manager, Ian Holloway, a couple of times, and he played a big factor in me joining the club; his vision, his experience, everything you could want in a manager, made me excited to be here and be part of this journey." Swindon have been searching for a naturally left-footed defender to add to their back three all summer and Wilson-Brown fits that bill. Ryan Delaney is the only left footer among the current centre backs in the squad and he has impressed with his condition across the summer, but he did miss a lot of last year through injury and avoiding another defensive injury crisis is important.
